I've always been interested in strongman but never knew Darwin had that scene.
When I started I felt a little nervous, a lot of self doubt and negativity to be honest.
Now, I feel like something has been lit inside, is ready to grow and can't be stopped!
I'm proud of myself for my weight loss so far, and the Sled Pull at Tropic Thunder Strongman Comp has been a highlight so far!
The only person stopping you is YOU!

I started because I needed a challenge in my life. I had toned up for my daughter's wedding and when that was over I thought what now I was 47 at the time and had never really been into gym life as such but felt I needed something more.
Then I saw the guys of Top End Strongman throwing things around and said to my trainer it looked like fun and I want to try that.
I am now 50 and I feel so empowered when I lift something that everyone including myself thinks I shouldn't or couldn't and do it well.
The mateship in the strongman community and the ability to challenge every part of my body including my brain is what keeps me going back. I have gained strength in mind and body and now have so many new friends thanks to the strongman community.

I started because of the community, it was unlike anything I'd experienced in sports in a very long time, everyone was cheering each other on and helping each other out and felt like a real community.
A positive for me was feeling capable again after a long time out of the gym and knowing that what I was doing was fun and functional.
What keeps me going is how much I enjoy it and feeling my progress with every session.

I hadn't trained in a gym for over 2 years as I just couldn't find the right tribe or right atmosphere. I tried many places but none of them kept me enthusiastic about training so I'd move on and then in the end I just gave up.
I saw a friend of mine post about Top End Strength Centre and I thought I'd give it a try! So happy I did, as it's been the best decision I've made for my training & my health & well-being!
I've never seen such an awesome group of people come together and train like those at Top End Strength Centre. The tribe is amazing and it doesn't matter what size or shape you are there's no judgement from anyone, everyone just encourages each other & we all train hard & have an absolute ball of a time!
If you're looking for an awesome gym with high quality professional coaches look no further than Top End Strength Centre. This place has improved not just my strength & fitness & health but my life! Come and give it a go!

I started due to the fact that after about 12 operations and accepting that running based sports were not for me, I needed to do something to keep myself “fit” and to exercise.
I started strongman because it’s something different, it’s something I find fun and challenging, its also fairly inclusive and generally it’s a got some great people.
Positives have been feeling better about myself, trying new things, stepping out of my comfort zone and having a go. I find lifting things helps keep me sane and keeps my mental health in check. I’ve also had the ability to compete which has been something I’ve never done before or even tried. I’m ok with not winning (but really everyone wants to win) but getting an invite to the world finals for Static Monsters is something truly amazing and very humbling. Getting picked to do a sport is something I never expected at any time.
It really is an honour and something I am incredibly proud of. I don’t know anyone with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) that has been told you can compete with the world. What keeps me going, is to improve, to lift heavier, push my body, to push my limits, push my disability, to achieve, to show others with my disability they can do things, they can have fun, they can be part of a sport and reach the world stage and show the world what can be done.

The main reason I got into strength training and fitness was because of being diagnosed with epilepsy. It was a blessing in disguise really because it gave me the motivation to change my lifestyle.
It's been 12 months since I started training have lost 18kg, I’m down to 27% body fat and have put on 5.5kg muscle mass increasing strength each week.
I have competed in a couple of strongman competitions now, I have gained experience and learned how to compete and what to expect and I am proud of how well I have done.
Top End Strength Centre is my second home it has the best vibe I have ever seen in a gym and an awesome atmosphere and crew supporting you 100% from the get go.
